Earthly delights

If you know anything about me, you should know how I feel about religions. In most instances there is a treasure trove of what my father-in-law and I call 'happy horseshit'. That is to say, rules made up by man that do not necessarily (or at all ) correlate to the message of love that God wishes to reveal to us. What I think is that religions can offer richness to one's faith and point to the revelations of God as creator and lover of all creations. The bottom line to me is that God is revealed in all of creation. One need not be converted to the beauty and creation that is all around us, to the message that God's creation reveals. No special logic, not special rules or rubrics short of those two great commandments that Jesus gave us will save us. But the basic truth is that God is present in all of creation and it is for us to see, observe, listen and learn.

I explained the majesty and power of sitting on a glacial valley floor.  One can see incredible beauty and the wonders of creation simply by looking. Check out the sciences, biology, physics, astronomy and all of animal kingdom and you get to see the expansive and inclusive imagination of our Creator at work. God's handiwork, all around us.

And lest we miss the most obvious, the Word became flesh to show us what a human is capable of. That single creation of God, we humans, are loving, caring, intelligent ( ?) and sexual. Let's not forget the sexual. The sexuality of all creation gives praise to God and reveals the not always binary universe around us. Sexuality is an intimate and creative force, a relational paradigm, a mirror of God. In sexuality we share joy, creativity, pleasure, intimacy and caring.

Every part of Earth, indeed the universe, gives praise to God and reveals God to us.  We can't miss it. While education may enhance it, rubrics may help us get in contact with it, every human who can see, listen and learn can come in contact with the Creator here on this orb we call Earth. On Earth

Our Father in heaven,
   hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come.
   Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not bring us to the time of trial,
but rescue us from the evil one.
