Romans 6:3-11
They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. As humans we were insane. The cycle of sin is like that. We would make the same mistakes over and over and never get it right. What brings sanity to the equation is God. He became man to free us from the insane cycle of sin. Jesus saved us from that horrible saying, 'life's a bitch and then you die'. It just isn't so and that's more like the motto of a faithless person because in the eyes of faith and because of Jesus death and rising, life is grand and it doesn't end when our bodies cease functioning.
There are countless expressions that go something like 'every end is a new beginning' , 'when one door shuts, another opens' and the like. These may simply be secular ways to express the truth of Easter and faith in Jesus Christ. We die to ourselves, to old unproductive and sinful ways and are born again. We are given a new chance and a new life in Christ. We need never experience the insanity of making the same mistakes (sins) over and over with no hope of change. Jesus is the change who offers us new life. We can move forward in growth and love and are not destined to live repetitive sinful and unproductive lives.
Death is not something to fear but to embrace. That is, at the right time, and everything has it's right time as the psalms say. At the right time, we die to ourselves and move forward in love and growth. This is the gift of faith in Jesus Christ. No greater example of this is given to us than at Easter.
The insanity ends. We are Easter people.

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. For whoever has died is freed from sin. But if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. The death he died, he died to sin, once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
